Abbon AS was established in 2004 and is now located in Rud, at the western peripheral area of Oslo Norway. In 2005 ABBON tested its first multiphase instrument based on acoustic technolgy at different test sites of well known oil & gas companies like Qatar Petroleum, Saudi Aramco, Conocco Phillips. In 2008 Abbon AS acquired Optimum Production AS, a company located in Stavanger, Norway. Combining the forces of Abbon and Optimum Production was a strategic move to develop and commercialize end-to-end solutions for production monitoring per well and of the entire field.

2004 Aquired patent for the Acoustic Flow Meter (AFM)
- 2005 Development of the AFM into an industrial meter
- 2005/08 Run several field qualification trials world-wide
- 2007 Started investigations for alternative metering concept
- 2008 Developed the 3PM concept and filed patent application
- 2008 Performed a successful laboratory test of the 3PM prototyp
- 2008 Aquisition of a front end software solution – Optimum Online
- 2009 Completed the mechanical design and produced an industrial prototype of 3PM
- 2010 ABBON 3PM patent application approved
- 2011 ABBON release its development programme to complete the new 3PM multiphase

End of 2010, ABBON decided to focus solely on the development of the new generation of multiphase flow meter. Base is the patented ABBON 3PM concept.
