Production monitoring enables optimized production and increased recovery
Continuous production performance information per well and of the entire fields enable on-site operators and off-site management to monitor actual production in real-time from where they are located. Optimum Online enables the operator to achieve the three main objectives of production optimization:
- Capture production opportunities
- Source and prevent areas of production losses
- Optimize the operation of the existing process and infrastructure
- Improved production forecasting
- Improved well allocation process
- Optimization tool
- Better communication and cooperation - Onshore/offshore
- Reduced work-load
- Standard solution from topside to reservoir
- "Right timing" of information - Latest well test is NOT sufficient
- Integrated production optimization work processes
- Connected measurement solution (no single point without a connection)
- Proven solution since 2004
Real-time visualization and data accessibility is the key to Integrated Operations
Optimum Online provides real-time production and process data from on-site production platforms to a broader company data network. This is achieved through dedicated data acquisition and extensive database systems. Production profiles are calculated based on real-time production information from well head sensors and historical well data. The same reliable data being shared among all affected parties allows for deliberate decision making and Integrated Operations. Production performance for each well and of entire fields are available for visualization in an onshore operation centre or can be accessed through a web interface from potentially anywhere in the World.
A modular solution to meet customer demand
Optimum Online consists of several modules to meet the demands of oil and gas operators of different size and with different modes of working.
- Optimum Module
- This is the core of Optimum Online with the capturing and streaming of real-time data to and from the customers required applications to generate a combined Production map for the whole asset.
- Verification Module
- This module is used to validate the estimated well production through a verification loop that is based on additional physical measurement or additional calculation. The validated production could then be allocated to the individual well and a continuous allocation process is established.
- Alarm Module
- The alarm module is integrated with the base module to be able to respond on any data stream that is capture and produced. Smart alarms are calculated by a mathematical approximation.
- Planning Module
- This module would help you execute your planned activity with a maximised cumulative production gain. It does this in conjunctions with the constraints and limitation that is given for the operation.
- Work Process Module
- This module would capture an event and guide it through to the organisation according to the established work process and best practise. It is a transparent process that is possible to monitor, analyse and report on. A change to the process is easily adapted and implemented.
Operation
The visualization and analysis engines of Optimum Online uses real-time data together with historic time series, baselines and thresholds representing desirable levels to give the users the most relevant information for optimal decision support. Optimum Online consists of separate, standardized modules for retrieving and storing real-time data, linking legacy systems and other data sources, and engines for iterative analysis using historical time-series. All modules are combined with visualization tools and standardized web-based presentation interfaces. Depending on available data, sensors and/or historic time series, the analysis may be iterated using historic time series to indicate deviations of a set of predefined causes or interventions. Interventions, lift programs, drainage strategies and maintenance plans may then be evaluated in sensitivity analysis for decision support in real-time surveillance for optimized planning on well, installation, field or asset levels. This is applicable for new field planning, equipment or well, through testing, production start-up and tail-end production in field and well life-cycle plans.
Development
During the period 2000-2002, Optimum Production AS developed Optimum Online for real-time production optimization. The R&D project was performed as an IFU contract jointly financed by PPCoN (Phillips Petroleum Co Norway), SND (Innovation Norway) and Optimum Production AS. The solution provided through Optimum Online assists in optimization of oil and gas production across different disciplines through the common use of a visualization tool. Optimum Online has been in use by ConocoPhillips since 2002, providing real-time production performance statistics for their entire Ekofisk field to the Onshore Operation Centre in Tananger, Norway.
